Gaur has been serving as Joint Secretary (Air & Staff Duties) in the DMA. His service record lists his tenure in the department from October 2024, with his promotion to the rank of Air Marshal taking effect on July 1, 2026.

The DMA, headed by the Chief of Defence Staff as its Secretary, was established to improve coordination among the Army, Navy and Air Force. Its responsibilities include promoting jointness in training, staffing, procurement and other military matters, as well as supporting the integration of the three services.

The Additional Secretary post has previously been held by senior uniformed officers, including Lieutenant General Anil Puri and Vice Admiral Atul Anand. Anand took charge in July 2023 after Puri’s retirement.
