Jodhpur: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has commenced the operational phase of the second edition of multinational Exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur, bringing together air forces from seven foreign countries for joint training and operational cooperation. The exercise began on September 26 and will continue until October 12 under the theme “Power in Partnership”

Australia, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are participating as Friendly Foreign Countries. The foreign aircraft taking part include the F-35 Lightning II, Rafale, F-16, A400M, MRTT, C-130, C-130J and KC-30A, representing a mix of fighter, airlift and air-to-air refuelling capabilities. Other countries are attending as observers.
The exercise provides participating contingents an opportunity to operate alongside the IAF, undertake advanced joint training and exchange operational expertise. It is designed to improve interoperability, mutual learning, aerospace safety and familiarity with one another’s operational procedures. Aircrew, mission planners and support personnel are expected to take part in professional exchanges.
Alongside flying activities, the programme includes a seminar, industrial tours for foreign contingents, the Sekhon Marathon, heritage tours and yoga sessions. These engagements are intended to encourage professional interaction and expose visiting teams to India’s aerospace and defence ecosystem.
Building on the inaugural Tarang Shakti held in 2024, the 2026 edition gives the IAF and participating air forces a platform to practise cooperation across different aircraft and support capabilities. It also provides an opportunity for India to showcase its operational standards and growing indigenous aerospace and defence capabilities.
The exercise reflects India’s expanding air-force engagement with international partners, with a focus on shared training, professional exchange and building familiarity among participating forces.
