New Delhi: Indian Air Force (IAF) will be hosting AVISEM- 2, Avionics Indigenisation Seminar, on the 18th and 19th of July 2022. The seminar's theme is Indigenisation of Avionics Aggregates Based on Modular Open System Architecture Framework. The event being steered by the Indigenisation Directorate of Air Head Quarter will be chaired by Air Marshal Vibhas Pande, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command IAF and conducted at Base Repair Depot, Pune.

Eminent Scientists representing various labs of DRDO, prominent contributors from the industry, the senior leadership of IAF from Air Head Quarter and Head Quarters Maintenance Command, and representatives from all Base Repair Depot of IAF will be participating in the event.

Potential Industry participants would showcase their capabilities in the niche domain of Modular System Architecture Framework for use by IAF to undertake Indigenous development.

Taking forward the mandate of Atma Nirbarta, AVISEM- 2 aims to evolve a strategy for reducing the dependence on foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) for the supply and maintenance of avionic aggregates.

The seminar intends to address this by holding ideation sessions to discuss the possibility of using Commercially Off The Shelf (COTS) and its technology as a replacement option that could be adopted as modular level solutions. Eventually, the seminar is envisaged to evolve a process that needs to be adopted for integration, certification and qualification of the modular level solutions as a replacement option for the OEM-supplied avionic aggregates.
