Milwaukee[USA]: Poland wants to increase exports of its defence products to India, Polish Finance Minister Andrzej Domański has said on October 1, signalling Warsaw’s growing interest in expanding defence-industrial ties with New Delhi as the two countries work to translate their Strategic Partnership into concrete cooperation.

The push comes shortly after India and Poland held a Joint Working Group meeting in New Delhi on September 28, co-chaired by Defence Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar and Polish Deputy Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka. The meeting focused on operationalising the Joint Action Plan for 2024–2028 and strengthening institutional, defence and defence-industrial cooperation.
Poland has been seeking greater access to the Indian defence market while also exploring cooperation beyond conventional exports. Polish officials have previously highlighted opportunities in joint production, new technologies and resilient defence supply chains, indicating an interest in developing longer-term industrial partnerships with India rather than limiting engagement to equipment sales.
Poland’s defence industry has a growing portfolio of systems available for international markets, including unmanned platforms and counter-UAS systems. Its 2026 Defence and Security Equipment Catalogue specifically promotes Polish defence technologies and products for export and international research and industrial partnerships.
The renewed defence focus is also taking place alongside broader economic engagement. Poland-India bilateral trade reached about €5.68 billion in 2025, according to Polish government data, with Polish exports to India including machinery and mechanical and electrical equipment, mineral products, base metals, rubber products and chemicals.
For India, greater engagement with Polish defence companies could widen the pool of European suppliers and create opportunities for technology cooperation, localisation and joint manufacturing. For Warsaw, India represents a major defence market as Poland seeks to expand its role from a significant military equipment buyer into a larger defence producer and exporter.
The momentum is expected to continue with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s proposed October visit to India, during which defence, high technology, space, manufacturing and business cooperation are expected to feature prominently in discussions.
