Bengaluru: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the annual performance review of India’s Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), highlighting the growing contribution of state-owned defence companies to the country’s indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem.

During the review, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) CMD Manoj Jain presented a dividend cheque worth ₹934.47 crore to the Government of India, representing interim and final dividends on the government’s equity holdings in BEL for the financial year 2025–26.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that India achieved approximately ₹1.8 lakh crore in defence production during 2025–26, with DPSUs accounting for ₹1.29 lakh crore of the total production.
The figures underline the significant role being played by Defence PSUs in expanding India's domestic defence manufacturing capabilities and advancing the country's push towards an Aatmanirbhar defence industrial base.
The annual review also focused on indigenous innovation. During the event, BEL CMD Manoj Jain briefed the Defence Minister on the company's innovative products and indigenous technologies, highlighting BEL's contribution to India's growing domestic defence technology ecosystem.
Defence Minister of State Sanjay Seth and Defence Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar were also present during the review.
The performance of DPSUs has become an important component of India's broader defence-industrial transformation, with indigenous production increasingly positioned as a key pillar of national defence capability.
The latest review therefore highlights two parallel aspects of India's defence PSUs: their role as major contributors to domestic defence production and their growing importance in developing indigenous technologies.
With ₹1.29 lakh crore of defence production attributed to DPSUs in FY 2025–26, India's state-owned defence companies remain at the centre of the country's Aatmanirbhar defence manufacturing push.
