New Delhi: The value of Indian Defence Exports has grown approximately by six times since 2014. Ministry of State for Defence Mr Ajay Bhatt in a written reply to Smt Ranjanben Dhananjay Bhatt and YS Avinash Reddy in Lok Sabha informed today, the Defence Export in the year 2021-22 ( till 21.03.2022) was of Rs 11,607 crore, whereas the same was Rs 1,941crore in 2014-15.

The official date showed that the Indian Defence export rose to Rs 10,746 in the year 2018-19; however, it declined in the subsequent years 2019-20 and 2020-21. The Government presented year-wise details of the value of exports for the past seven-eight years.

The Minister also said that during the period, many reforms have been taken up by the Government to boost defence exports and enhance ease of doing business.
According to the Ministry of Defence, these exports have been made to over 80 countries.

Though as per international reports including Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) report, India still stands in the list of top 25 countries in defence exports, the Government has reiterated its commitment to make the country a net defence exporter from the status of a net importer.

It is pertinent to note here that Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt had told Parliament in April that Indian Defence export amounted to defence items worth Rs 38,500 crore in the last seven years including military hardware and systems.
