Amravati: Tembo Global Industries Limited is moving ahead with its planned arms and ammunition manufacturing facility in Amravati, Maharashtra, following a ground-breaking ceremony on October 22. The subsidiary has received a licence from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to manufacture ammunition of various calibres, along with a separate small-arms manufacturing licence. These approvals cleared key regulatory requirements for developing its proposed manufacturing capabilities.
The project built on the company's earlier plans to establish a defence manufacturing facility on 100 acres of land in Amravati, with the aim of entering the small-arms and ammunition market. The company has identified domestic manufacturing and potential export opportunities as part of its expansion strategy.
Commenting on the development, Tembo Global Industries Managing Director Sanjay J. Patel said that the bhoomi poojan marked an important milestone in the group's efforts to establish a presence in India's defence manufacturing ecosystem.
The project supports India's Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives by encouraging private-sector participation in defence production. Its eventual contribution will depend on the completion of the facility, commencement of commercial production and the securing of manufacturing orders.
