During the visit, the Tanzanian delegation toured the 505 Army Base Workshop and DPSU Bhawan, gaining insights into India's military maintenance capabilities and indigenous defence manufacturing. The delegation also paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial, reinforcing the spirit of mutual respect and cooperation.
The talks were built on the fourth India–Tanzania Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting held in Zanzibar on February 2–3, 2026. Both sides discussed cooperation in military training, maritime security and defence industry collaboration, alongside potential engagement in counter-terrorism, peacekeeping and specialised training.
Emerging areas of cooperation included electronic warfare, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, while military medicine is also identified as a potential field for collaboration. The countries have additionally agreed to initiate cooperation between their air forces, complementing existing links between their armies and navies.
India and Tanzania elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership in 2023. The latest Army Staff Talks built on that framework, supporting closer defence engagement and capacity building between the two countries across the Indian Ocean region.
