The meeting is co-chaired by Dr Ishita Ganguli Tripathy, Joint Secretary in India’s Ministry of Defence, and Brigadier General Gansukh E, Deputy State Secretary of Defence of Mongolia. Both sides reviewed existing defence cooperation and discussed further avenues for collaboration.

The discussions focused on strengthening defence engagement, with capacity-building, military training and continued institutional exchanges forming important areas of cooperation. The two countries also reiterated their shared interest in promoting regional peace and security.

The meeting built on a longstanding defence partnership that includes military-to-military exchanges, training programmes and the joint military exercise Nomadic Elephant. The exercise provided troops from both countries opportunities to improve interoperability and exchange operational experience.

The latest JWG meeting reinforced India’s engagement with Mongolia as part of its broader defence diplomacy across Asia. No new procurement contract or specific arms deal is announced in the official update.
