Muscat: A senior delegation from India's National Defence College (NDC) concluded a Strategic Neighbourhood Study Tour of Oman, with the visit described by the Indian Embassy as an important high-level interaction between the two countries.
Led by Air Vice Marshal Manish Vasantkumar Patel, Senior Directing Staff at India's NDC, the delegation visited Oman from August 30 to September 3, engaging with senior military, diplomatic and civilian institutions.

The delegation met Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces, with discussions covering mutual security interests within the broader India-Oman defence partnership.
The Indian delegation also met Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi, Commandant of Oman's National Defence College, where both sides discussed academic cooperation, military training and exchange of expertise.
The engagements build on an already extensive defence relationship between the two countries, with military exercises, professional exchanges and institutional cooperation forming important pillars of bilateral security ties.
The delegation also interacted with members of Oman's Majlis A'Dawla and Majlis A'Shura, as well as officials from the Diplomatic Academy of Oman and the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones.

A visit to the Shabab Oman II vessel provided another dimension to the engagement, with the delegation briefed on its maritime, cultural and diplomatic roles.
Oman's strategic location at the intersection of the Arabian Sea and Gulf gives it particular importance for India's maritime and West Asia strategy.
The latest visit therefore goes beyond conventional military cooperation. Exchanges involving senior officers, defence colleges and diplomatic institutions help build long-term strategic networks and a shared understanding of regional security challenges.
