New Delhi: India and Poland held a meeting of their Joint Working Group (JWG) in New Delhi on September 28 to review and expand institutional, defence and defence-industrial cooperation, with discussions focused on operationalising the Joint Action Plan for 2024–2028.

The meeting was co-chaired by Secretary (Defence Production) Sanjeev Kumar and Poland’s Secretary of State and Deputy Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka. The Ministry of Defence said the two sides discussed steps to strengthen cooperation across the defence sector and advance the agreed action plan.
The talks build on a series of high-level engagements between the two countries. In early September, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski in Warsaw, where both sides discussed the potential for deeper economic ties, including cooperation between their defence industries and in emerging technologies such as space.
The Joint Action Plan provides a framework for advancing the strategic partnership established in 2024. The latest JWG meeting reflects efforts to translate that framework into practical cooperation, particularly in defence production and industrial engagement.
For India, closer engagement with Poland offers another channel for broadening European defence-industrial relationships. The next step will be turning the discussions into specific collaborative projects and sustained institutional links.
