New Delhi/ Mumbai: INS Kolkata, the Indian Navy's indigenously built guided-missile stealth destroyer, has on Thursday been affiliated to the Mahar regiment of the Indian Army at a ceremony held at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai.
The Charter of Affiliation was signed and exchanged between Lieutenant General C Bansi Ponnappa, Adjutant General of the Indian Army who is also the Colonel of the Mahar Regiment, and Rear Admiral Sameer Saxena, Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet.
Both re-emphasised their determination to achieve the aims listed in the Charter of Affiliation.
The affiliation between sister services of the Indian Armed Forces was instituted in 1990 to foster a spirit of cooperation, understanding and joint manship. The affiliation is a symbol of inter-service camaraderie that goes a long way in the execution of integrated operations in modern warfare.
