New Delhi: Maj Gen Amita Rani assumed the appointment of Addl Director General, Military Nursery Service (MNS) on 01 Aug 2023. The General Officer is from Delhi and an alumnus of the College of Nursing, Army Hospital (R&R). She was commissioned into the Military Nursing Service in the year 1983. She has completed her Midwifery training from Military Hospital Ambala in 1985.
She was posted at various hospitals of the tri-services and has served both at peace and in counter insurgency areas. She has attended many short-term courses with an aim to achieve professional competence and up to date knowledge such as pediatric update and quality management from AHA Noida. The General Officer has also completed Quality Control, Infection Control and Prevention Management, Six Sigma Green Belt in Health care and a Post Graduate Certificate course in Hospital and Quality Management from the National Health Care Academy headquartered at Singapore.
A passionate clinical nurse with strategic vision and exemplary leadership qualities, she is known for bringing palpable changes and positive patient outcomes. As an able administrator, she has held key appointments as DPM CH(EC) Kolkata, Principal Matron at 154 GH, MH Jalandhar, MH Allahabad and Command Hospital Air Force, Bangalore. She held the appointment of Brig MNS, HQ (NC) prior to assuming the present appointment.
For her meritorious contributions to the Military Nursing Service, she has been bestowed with the FOC-in-C Southern Naval Command Commendation Card in 2004 while serving at INS Hamla and the Chief of the Air Staff Commendation Card in the year 2020.
