New Delhi: OSV FTWZ Hyderabad positions its free trade warehousing facility as a logistics hub for aerospace and defence companies on October 14, following its takeover of a facility previously operated by SpiceJet within the GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park. The move targets manufacturers and suppliers requiring secure storage, faster distribution and duty-deferred handling of specialised equipment and components.

The facility spans approximately 50,000 square feet in its first phase and benefits from its proximity to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. According to the company’s announcement, the location supports distribution across South India and access to international cargo networks operated by carriers including Emirates, Lufthansa and Qatar Airways.

OSV FTWZ offers temperature-controlled storage, round-the-clock surveillance and digital cargo tracking. Its services include repackaging, consolidation, kitting and relabelling, allowing businesses to prepare shipments for domestic distribution or re-export while goods remain within the free trade warehousing framework.

The facility’s duty-deferred model allows importers to postpone applicable customs-duty payments until goods are cleared for domestic use, subject to prevailing regulations. Goods intended for re-export can be handled under the applicable FTWZ procedures, making the model potentially useful for companies managing international inventories and time-sensitive aerospace components.

Hyderabad’s industrial ecosystem provides an additional advantage. The GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park hosts defence research establishments, aerospace companies and technology firms, including Safran Aircraft Engines, Skyroot Aerospace, Cyient, the Defence Research and Development Laboratory and Research Centre Imarat. The company’s announcement also cites Telangana aerospace and defence exports exceeding ₹32,850 crore in FY2025–26.

OSV FTWZ says the Hyderabad operation complements its wider network of warehousing facilities across major Indian trade corridors, including Mumbai, Mundra, Chennai, Kochi, Visakhapatnam, Kolkata and Delhi NCR. The expansion reflects the growing importance of specialised logistics infrastructure in supporting aerospace and defence manufacturing.

However, the announcement does not disclose the financial terms of the takeover or identify specific new aerospace and defence customers secured through the facility. Its longer-term significance will depend on customer uptake and the extent to which the warehouse improves supply-chain efficiency for manufacturers operating in Hyderabad.
