Bengaluru: Defence Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) continues to reinforce its position as India’s premier defense electronics manufacturer, reporting robust financial and operational performance for the second quarter ending September 2025. The Navratna PSU’s standalone profit after tax surged 17.85% year-on-year to ₹1,286 crore, while revenue from operations saw a substantial 25.75% growth, reaching ₹5,763.65 crore. Despite a slight dip in EBITDA margin to 29.42%, the operational EBITDA itself rose 22% to ₹1,695.6 crore, demonstrating BEL’s commendable ability to scale its operations and maintain cost efficiency in a competitive environment.

The September 2025 quarter was marked not only by strong numbers, but also by new strategic order wins and promising contract flows. BEL’s order book stood at an impressive ₹74,453 crore as of October 1, 2025, reflecting robust demand from the defense sector. Notably, the company recently received defense orders worth ₹732 crore, encompassing advanced software-defined radios (SDRs), tank subsystems, missile components, and cybersecurity solutions.
These SDRs, jointly developed with DRDO, showcase BEL’s ongoing commitment to indigenization and next-gen network-centric warfare, offering secure real-time communications for modern battlefield scenarios. Major deals for Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) systems, air defense fire control radars, and extensive upgrades for tank and electronic warfare systems are poised to further fortify BEL’s portfolio and order flows well into FY26.
Looking ahead, BEL’s landmark order book and technology diversification position it strongly to benefit from a government-led push towards “Aatmanirbharta” (self-reliance) in defense manufacturing. The PSU has deepened its partnerships across both the armed forces and leading shipyards, securing significant contracts for naval equipment and air defense systems. Projections suggest BEL could cross ₹50,000 crore in new order inflows in FY26 as the Indian defense sector accelerates modernization and domestic sourcing. With steady EBITDA growth, expanding indigenous product lines, and integration across digital and battlefield domains, BEL is well-placed to catalyze India’s leap into next-generation defense manufacturing and exports.
