Surat [Gujrat]: Gujarat-based defence technology company insideFPV has announced the successful trials of its indigenous Advik first-person-view (FPV) kamikaze drone under active electronic warfare conditions at approximately 18,000 feet in Ladakh. The company said that the drone maintained its flight and communication link while operating with electronic warfare systems, including the Advanced Drone Defence System, switched on. The systems have subsequently been delivered to the Indian Army.

The trials addressed a major challenge facing tactical FPV drones in modern warfare: the disruption of communication links through electronic jamming. insideFPV said that Advik uses an in-house developed radio-frequency (RF) communication switching system that combines multiple RF systems with a customised antenna arrangement to maintain connectivity in contested electromagnetic environments.

Conducting the trials at high altitude also tested the platform under demanding environmental conditions. Reduced air density affects propeller efficiency and aerodynamic performance, while low temperatures can reduce battery performance. These conditions are particularly challenging for compact multirotor drones operating along India's mountainous borders.

The company said that its approach focuses on developing lightweight and cost-conscious systems without compromising communication reliability. Maintaining control and video links under electronic attack is increasingly important as conflicts demonstrate the growing use of small unmanned platforms for battlefield surveillance and precision strikes.

The development added to insideFPV's existing work with the Indian Army. In April 2026, the company reported completing a ₹10 crore Ministry of Defence contract for hundreds of indigenous FPV-based systems under the Emergency Procurement Route. The latest delivery and high-altitude trials reflected India's continuing effort to strengthen domestic capabilities in tactical unmanned systems and counter electronic-warfare challenges.
