New Delhi: Indian defence company RRP Defense has entered into an exclusive India partnership with Israel-based ESC BAZ to introduce its next-generation ‘Diamond’ surveillance and observation technology in the Indian market, marking the company’s entry into the rapidly expanding advanced electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) surveillance segment.

The partnership brings together ESC BAZ’s expertise in advanced observation systems and RRP Defense’s manufacturing and market capabilities. The companies will also explore opportunities to take the technology into international markets, potentially giving the partnership an export-oriented dimension.
"Diamond" is positioned as an AI-enabled observation technology, designed to support advanced surveillance and situational awareness applications across defence and security environments.
The partnership comes as demand for sophisticated EO/IR systems continues to rise globally. These technologies combine electro-optical sensors and infrared capabilities to enable observation and detection across different lighting and environmental conditions, making them increasingly important for modern surveillance architectures.
According to RRP Defense’s assessment, India represents an estimated USD 580 million opportunity in the military EO/IR market. The company estimates that Diamond and the associated technology opportunity could account for around 30% of the potential revenue opportunity within the emerging business segment.
For RRP Defense, the agreement represents more than an expansion of its product portfolio. It provides an entry point into a highly specialised segment where AI, sensors, surveillance and defence electronics are increasingly converging.
The partnership also highlights the evolving nature of India-Israel defence-industrial cooperation. While Israel has long been recognised for its expertise in sensors, surveillance, unmanned systems and defence electronics, Indian companies are increasingly seeking to combine foreign technology partnerships with domestic manufacturing and market capabilities.
This model could become particularly important as India continues to strengthen its indigenous defence ecosystem while integrating advanced technologies through international partnerships.
The partnership's potential extends beyond the Indian market. RRP Defense said it would explore opportunities in global markets, creating the possibility of positioning the India-based venture within international supply chains for advanced surveillance systems.
If the technology is successfully localised and scaled, such partnerships could contribute to India's broader ambition of becoming not only a major defence manufacturer but also a global supplier of specialised defence technologies.
The development therefore sits at the intersection of three major trends in modern defence: AI-enabled surveillance, India-Israel technology cooperation and the expansion of India's private defence-industrial base.
The bigger opportunity for India may not simply be to import advanced surveillance technology — but to manufacture, integrate and eventually export it.
