Chandigarh: The Indian Air Force International Squash Championship 2026 commenced at the Base Repair Depot, Air Force Station Chandigarh, bringing together squash teams from India, the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka in a five-day international sporting competition.

The championship, being held from August 31 to September 4, features six participating teams, including two teams from the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force, Haryana, the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka. Alongside the team competition, an Open Singles category is also being contested.
The event was inaugurated in the presence of Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, who highlighted the role of international sporting events in strengthening camaraderie, mutual respect and friendship among participating nations.
Adding a unique touch to the opening ceremony, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh participated in a friendly squash match with Air Marshal M Baladitya (Retd) and Captain Dan Peskett of the United Kingdom.
Beyond the sporting competition, the championship also provides an opportunity for military personnel from participating countries to interact outside formal defence engagements. Such international sporting events can contribute to stronger interpersonal ties and foster goodwill between armed forces.
The championship will continue in Chandigarh through September 4, with participating teams competing for the title in what combines high-level squash with international military camaraderie.
The tournament is another example of how sport can serve as a platform for strengthening relations and building connections between armed forces across nations.
