The latest engagement comes after the two countries held their 10th Defence Dialogue in June, where they reviewed bilateral defence cooperation and discussed regional and global security issues.

Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation in defence manufacturing, research, innovation and capability development, alongside military-to-military engagement.

India and Thailand also maintain joint maritime patrols, defence dialogue mechanisms and military exchanges, giving the relationship an important maritime dimension.

Thailand occupies a strategically important position between the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia, making it relevant to India's wider Indo-Pacific strategy.

Stronger ties with Bangkok also support India's engagement with ASEAN and BIMSTEC, while creating opportunities for greater cooperation in maritime security, connectivity and defence industry.

The partnership is particularly significant as India seeks deeper strategic engagement with Southeast Asian countries under its Act East policy.
