Paparo is joined at the dinner by Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani, Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth, Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit and Chief of Integrated Defence Staff Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, among other senior defence officials. Gor says the gathering highlights the growing strength and importance of the bilateral defence partnership.
During his India visit, Paparo is also engaging with Indian leadership on Indo-Pacific security, maritime cooperation, emerging technologies, digital transformation, regional strategic stability and defence energy resilience. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar meets Paparo on October 4 and says the two sides discuss advancing the security partnership and maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.
The visit follows a series of recent India-US military engagements, including the 22nd edition of Exercise Yudh Abhyas, which brings the two armies together for training across desert and high-altitude environments. US Army Pacific Deputy Commander Lt Gen Joel B. Vowell also meets Gen Dhiraj Seth on September 28 to discuss the evolving Indo-Pacific security environment and opportunities to deepen defence cooperation.
Paparo’s engagement provides another high-level channel for coordinating the two countries’ military priorities across the Indo-Pacific. With maritime security, emerging technologies and interoperability gaining greater importance, the visit reinforces the operational and strategic dimension of the India-US Major Defence Partnership.
