New Delhi: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Chief VS Pathania today reviews the operational readiness of the Eastern Seaboard at sea off Chennai Coast.

The ships and aircraft of ICG along with other assets performed various exercises to showcase their preparedness.

The Indian Coast Guard in a tweet said, "@IndiaCoastGuard Director General VS Pathania, PTM, TM #DGICG reviewed the operational readiness of Eastern Sea Board during the day at sea off #Chennai today. #ICG assets (#ships & #aircraft) performed various exercises pertaining to Coast Guard charter and duties."

It may be recalled that ICG has divided the Maritime Zones of India into two seaboards for effective command and control. They are Eastern Seaboard and Western Seaboard which comprises of five Coast Guard Regions, namely, North-West, West, East, North-East and Andaman & Nicobar (not under any sea board), with the respective Regional Headquarters located at Gandhinagar, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Port Blair. The Coast Guard Regions are commanded by Officers of the rank of Inspector General.
