Visakhapatnam: Defence PSU Hindustan Shipyard Ltd (HSL) has marked a significant milestone today by completing internal shaft turning trials on INS Nistar, Diving Support Vessel (VC 11190), in the presence of WOT.

In a post on X, the shipbuilder said, “Achieving shaft turning trials under the power of the ship's engines through the gearbox within one year of the ship's launch for a first-of-class vessel is a remarkable feat.”

“This is a testament to the transformation of HSL and the collaborative role played by the Navy, as well as the timely supply of indigenous products by our MSME sector,” it added.

Diving Support Vessel (DSV) is the first of its kind, indigenously designed and built at HSL for the Indian Navy.

The 120 metre long ship with total displacement of about 9357 Tons and blue water capability is being deployed for deep sea diving and submarine rescue operations.
