New Delhi: A day after Army Chief’s J&K visit, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be visiting Rajouri tomorrow. He will be spending time with the Army officials and is likely to interact with civilians in some of those areas.

He will be there for a day during which he will meet top Army officers at the 16 Corps, deployed on the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonch districts where Pakistan has revived terrorism after 20 years of peace.

He will also conduct a security review meeting at Jammu Raj Bhawan where the top brass of the Army, intelligence agencies, Police, BSF, CRPF, etc., will participate.

The Defence Minister is expected to meet people of the area where three civilians died last week allegedly in the Army’s custody.

Earlier, Army chief General Manoj Pande reviewed the prevailing security situation in the Jammu region amid a massive ongoing operation to track down the terrorists behind a recent ambush on Army vehicles that left four soldiers dead in the border district of Poonch, officials said.

The four soldiers were killed after their vehicles were ambushed by the terrorists at Dhatyar Morh between Dhera Ki Gali and Buffliaz in the Surankote area of Poonch on Thursday.

In the aftermath of the attack, three civilians, aged between 27 and 42 years, were allegedly picked up by the Army for questioning. They were found dead on December 22.
