New Delhi: As part of the ‘Bhargavastra’ counter-drone system, the Solar Group has successfully test-fired the guided micro-missiles.

The system, based on micro-missile, is specially developed to tackle growing threats from loitering munitions and weaponised drones.

The group has “indigenously designed and developed the micro-missile for multi-layer counter-drone system ‘Bhargavastra’ to inflict hard kill on enemy UAV at an affordable cost”.

To make it a one-stop solution across all UAV threats, the group has integrated an additional layer of soft-kill. The system is further capable of integration with an existing network of armed forces for network-centric warfare.

The multi-layered system, which is being developed for the Indian Army, showcased a unique low-cost option to target large-scale drone attacks.

It can detect small incoming flying machines at more than six km, taking them down via micro munitions that can be guided towards the threat, sources told the news outlet.

The test was witnessed by a few senior officials of the Army. Now, it is set to be ready for larger and more exhaustive trials slated for this year, paving the way for induction into the armed forces.
