The pledge reaffirmed the collective commitment to uphold India’s unity, integrity and security, while strengthening the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas commemorates Patel’s contribution to national integration. As independent India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Patel played a pivotal role in integrating hundreds of princely states into the Indian Union.
The Ministry of Defence’s observance forms part of the wider national commemoration of Patel’s legacy, with this year’s main celebrations scheduled for October 31 at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to pay tribute at the Statue of Unity and participate in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas programme.
