The discussions built on the India-Poland Strategic Partnership established in August 2024. Both sides sought to expand collaboration across defence, investment, technology, education and people-to-people exchanges, while identifying new opportunities for industrial partnerships and technological development.
Defence emerged as a key area of engagement, with India inviting Polish companies to participate in co-development and co-production initiatives. The two countries also explored cooperation in space, nuclear energy and critical minerals, alongside opportunities to leverage Poland’s expertise in coal gasification.
Technology cooperation received additional attention, with Modi announcing the establishment of an India-Poland Startup Bridge and plans for technology hackathons involving young people from both countries. The initiatives aimed to strengthen existing cooperation in information technology and cybersecurity while creating opportunities for startups and innovators.
The economic agenda gained momentum amid efforts to leverage the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement to expand business and industrial engagement. A Polish business delegation accompanied Tusk, with business forums in New Delhi on October 22 and Bengaluru on October 23 providing platforms to explore partnerships in manufacturing, technology and investment.
The talks marked another step towards translating the strategic partnership into concrete commercial and industrial outcomes. The proposed doubling of bilateral trade by 2030 sets a clear economic objective, while progress in defence production, emerging technologies and critical minerals will depend on subsequent agreements and implementation.
