New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh released the Indian Army’s Land Warfare Doctrine on October 23, urging Army Commanders to develop a long-term strategic vision for the next 20–30 years while remaining prepared for immediate and emerging security threats. The document provided a framework for preparing the Army for evolving warfare and future conflicts.
Addressing the Army Commanders’ Conference in New Delhi, Singh stressed that military strategies must remain flexible as geopolitical conditions and battlefield challenges change. He highlighted Operation Sindoor as an example of how innovative thinking, improved coordination and advanced weaponry contribute to operational effectiveness.
The Defence Minister called for faster adoption of artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, data analytics, cybersecurity and secure communication networks. He also emphasised the need to strengthen drone capabilities and continuously assess military preparedness.
Singh underlined the importance of an integrated approach to modern warfare, noting that operations increasingly involve land, air, maritime, space and cyber domains. He said that effective coordination across these areas is essential, even as ground forces remain central to national security.

The doctrine came amid India's wider push to modernise its armed forces and strengthen domestic defence manufacturing. Singh said that defence production reached a record ₹1.78 lakh crore in FY2025–26, while defence exports rose to approximately ₹38,000 crore. The long-term objective is to build a technologically advanced Army capable of responding to both conventional threats and emerging forms of warfare.
