New Delhi: The Defence Accounts Department (DAD) will celebrate its 279th Annual Day at DRDO Bhawan on October 1, 2026, in New Delhi, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh scheduled to launch a series of digital initiatives and publications aimed at strengthening financial management across the Ministry of Defence.

The initiatives include the integration of the Indian Army Financial Information System (IAFIS) with DAD’s SAKSHAM platform, the revamped National Compilation System (NCS) for the Ministry of Defence, and the Payment Routing and Integrated System Management (PRISM) platform for introducing Treasury-Single Account payments in the Ministry of Defence.
Rajnath Singh is also scheduled to release the Comprehensive Statistical Handbook on Defence Expenditure (COSHE) 2026, Raksha Lekha Bharati—DAD’s in-house Hindi magazine—and the Market Intelligence Report 2025-26. A short film on SPARSH (System for Pension Administration–Raksha), the department’s flagship defence pension system, will also be released.
The occasion will additionally see the Raksha Mantri Awards for Excellence 2026 presented to DAD officers and staff for their performance and contribution to key initiatives of the Ministry of Defence and the department.
Tracing its origins to the appointment of the Military Pay Master in 1747, DAD has evolved into the Ministry of Defence’s financial management arm, providing services in internal audit, accounting, financial advice and defence pensions management.
The new initiatives underline the department’s continuing shift towards integrated digital financial systems, with the focus on improving payment processes, compilation and management of defence expenditure data and financial administration across the defence establishment.
