New Delhi: The curtain raiser press conference for the fourth edition of the Indian Navy’s Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Organisation (NIIO) seminar, Swavlamban 2025, was held in New Delhi on Thursday, November 20. Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, chaired the event and highlighted key features of the seminar scheduled for November 25-26 at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi. Swavlamban 2025 will showcase the Indian Navy’s innovation and indigenisation efforts, focusing on emerging and disruptive technologies that enhance the country’s defence capabilities.

The event, themed ‘Strength and Power through Innovation and Indigenisation,’ will include exhibit zones displaying products that have emerged as success stories through the ‘ideation to induction’ cycle. It will host sessions on policy reforms to accelerate the adoption of indigenous technologies and expert-led panels discussing the latest trends relevant to the maritime domain.
Additionally, an interactive session with venture capitalists will explore opportunities for funding and scaling innovations. Key activities planned include launching the ‘Innovathon,’ releasing the Compendium of Technology Challenges and Problem Statements, and unveiling the Swavlamban 4.0 document and Armament Indigenisation Compendium.
The seminar aims to foster collaboration among innovators, industry partners, academia, MSMEs, and start-ups, driving future naval capability development and advancing India’s goal of self-reliance in defence technology.
