Army Chief Gen Dwivedi flags tech-driven warfare in his UAE address

New Delhi: Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday addressed officers at the UAE National Defence College, underscoring the evolving global security landscape and the changing character of modern conflicts driven by technology.

During his address, General Dwivedi emphasized the leadership role of senior military officers and stressed the importance of bilateral and multilateral defence cooperation between India, the UAE and regional partners to advance peace and security.

The visit, part of India's continued engagement with friendly nations, saw the Army Chief hold discussions with Major General (Staff) Yousef Maayouf Saeed Al Hallami, Commander of UAE Land Forces, on Monday. The talks focused on enhancing military engagement, training convergence and bilateral defence cooperation.

General Dwivedi also visited the Land Forces Museum and interacted with India's Ambassador to the UAE, Dr. Deepak Mittal, to discuss strengthening bilateral ties through military diplomacy and strategic engagement.

According to the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI), "The COAS highlighted the evolving global security landscape and the changing character of modern conflicts, underscoring the impetus to technology in modern warfare."

"The COAS emphasised on the leadership role of senior military officers and stressed the importance of collaborative engagements, including strong bilateral and multilateral defence cooperation between India, the UAE and other regional partners, to achieve symbiotic outcomes and advance regional and global peace and security," the ADGPI stated.

During his UAE visit, General Dwivedi is calling on senior leadership of the UAE Armed Forces and receiving briefings on the structure, roles and capabilities of the UAE Army. He is also visiting key military establishments to interact with officers and troops.

Following his UAE engagements, General Dwivedi will visit Sri Lanka from January 7-8, where he will be accorded a Guard of Honour by the Sri Lanka Army. He will meet senior military and civil leadership, including the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Deputy Minister of Defence and the Defence Secretary, for discussions on training cooperation, capacity building and regional security.

During the Sri Lanka leg, the Army Chief will address officers at the Defence Services Command and Staff College and interact with trainees at the Army War College in Buttala. He will also pay homage at the IPKF War Memorial.
